New Plastic Recycling Project to be Launched in Nigeria

The project is described as one of several ways by which the company attempts to drive awareness on plastic pollution and recycling.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nigerian Breweries plc.- the country’s leading brewing company launched a new plastic recycling project. The project titled ‘NB Recycles’ is part of the company’s ongoing sustainability initiatives and will cover its employees as well as the host communities in which it operates.

According to company press release, several convenient collection points will be set up at all of its nine locations and respective host communities. The company staff and members of the public could drop used items including used plastic bottles, aluminum cans, paper, cartons, nylon and glass against monetary rewards.

The initiative aims to promote community-led plastic recycling and combat plastic pollution, thus restating the company’s commitment towards environmental sustainability, it said. The project is described as one of several ways by which the company attempts to drive awareness on plastic pollution and recycling.

The project is being run with the support from Wecyclers- the leading waste recycler, who in turn will be responsible for collection, sorting and recycling of all plastic waste from employees and community members.

The official launch of the NB Recycles Project was held in the company Head Office at Iganmu, Lagos.
