Garnier Launched New Campaign to Fight Plastic Waste

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Garnier- the mass market cosmetics brand of French cosmetics company L’Oreal announced new campaign titled ‘One Green Step’ in the Philippines. It aims to reduce marine leakage of plastic waste. Incidentally, the country is the third largest contributor of plastic leaks into the oceans, as per a recent study conducted by the World Bank Group.

Isabel Falco, Marketing Director-Philippines for L’Oreal and Garnier announced ambitious plans to improve the environmental impacts of their products by 2025. She also announced the progress of the company’s ‘Green Beauty For All Of Us’ initiatives launched last year. During 2020, it empowered as many as 787 communities by its sustainable sourcing drive. Also, 49% of the factories went carbon-neutral during the previous year.

The company has begun a plastics collection program in select Watsons stores. It had recently entered into a partnership with Lazada for plastic-free packaging for shipping its products. The packaging solution eliminates plastic tape and bubble wrap with kraft paper tape and recycled paper wrap from FSC-certified suppliers respectively. The company aims to have all of its plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable.
