Lundin Gold Mine Hit Record Gold Output in Q2 This Year
Fruta del Norte is considered to be one of the largest and highest-grade gold projects.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Vancouver-based Lundin Gold announced record gold production during the second quarter of 2021.
The Canadian miner reported Q2 2021 gold production of 108,799 ounces from its Fruta del Norte gold mine in Ecuador. Out of this, concentrate production totalled 66,721 ounces and the remaining 42,078 ounces were produced as dore. The mill processed approximately 346,561 tonnes at an average throughput rate of 3,808 tonnes per day. It reported average ore grade of 11.08 grams per tonne and an average recovery of 88.2%.

Fruta del Norte is considered to be one of the largest and highest-grade gold projects. The company had recently hiked Fruta del Norte gold mine’s reserves by 8% to nearly 5.41 million ounces. Accordingly, it foresees total gold production of almost 4.8 million ounces over a 14-year mine life.
Commenting on the results, Ron Hochstein, President and CEO, Lundin Gold noted that the quarterly production has once again exceeded projected production. Both the mine and mill have continued to perform remarkably well and the company is on track to meet its 2021 guidance of 380,000-420,000 ounces of gold produced, he added.
The company is due to publish its second quarter 2021 results on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
