Tata Steel Jamshedpur Plant Added to WEF’s Global Lighthouse Network
The 4th Industrial Revolution technologies helped the company ensure business countinuity during these difficult times, he added.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading steelmaker Tata Steel announced that its Jamshedpur steel plant has been included in the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network- a group of manufacturers known to have implemented 4th Industrial Revolution technologies in production.
The steelmaker has become one among the few companies whose multiple sites have been included as part of the network. It must be noted that the company’s other two facilities- IJmuiden plant in Netherlands and Kalinganagar facility in Odisha, India are already part of the network.

Commenting on the achievement, TV Narendran, CEO and MD, Tata Steel noted that it is a proud moment for all the members of the Jamshedpur plant. The company’s recent investments in plant infrastructure facilities coupled with adoption of automation technologies have boosted productivity at its manufacturing plants, thus helping it to reach the milestone. The switch to digital manufacturing was further accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The 4th Industrial Revolution technologies helped the company ensure business countinuity during these difficult times, he added.
Tata Steel aims to emerge as the global leader in steel making by 2025, through adoption of latest and advanced steelmaking technologies.
