Electronic Waste Volume Generated by Americans Witnessed Steady Decline

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The results of a new study have revealed that the total mass of electronic waste generated by Americans has witnessed steady decline since 2015. The study was conducted by a researcher at the Yale School of the Environment's Center for Industrial Ecology.
According to the study, the primary reason for the dip in e-waste mass is the gradual disappearance of CRT computer monitors and televisions from landfills. Despite this positive trend, the study also found that many individuals and organizations toss out smaller electronic devices, which collectively and over a period of time, could result in harmful environmental impacts.
Many of modern day electronic devices like smartphones also serve the function of a number of other devices like video recorders and cameras. This is being referred to as ‘convergence’ by researchers, which actually has reduced the total number of electronic devices purchased by customers.
The study cites that a few businesses are found either disposing of their e-waste improperly, or storing them in their corporate offices and other locations. The top priority for the current year should be to get rid of such items effectively and responsibly.
