Vietnam Announced Regulations to Curb Plastic Waste in Oceans

The administration had also hinted at further strengthening the regulations as to ensure that people are more cautious about dealing with plastic waste.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Vietnamese administration has introduced several policies and projects aimed at mitigating ocean pollution and reducing plastic waste in oceans. The country has approved a long-term national action plan, setting ambitious targets for 2030.

The country’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has been urged to explore various initiatives aimed at boosting co-operation in regional as well as international level. It has been ordered to form new partnerships aimed at preventing ocean plastic waste.  Additionally, a new project, sponsored by the German Ministry was given approval during the month of July this year, which targets to reduce marine plastic waste. The project is expected to deliver guiding documents on implementing policy priorities. It intends to educate communities on the harmful impacts of ocean plastics.

The Vietnamese Administration of Sea and Islands had recently announced its decision to work in collaboration with local population, with the support of international organization to roll out action plans to reduce the volume of plastics that are washed into the world’s oceans. The administration had also hinted at further strengthening the regulations as to ensure that people are more cautious about dealing with plastic waste.

The administration highlighted the need for raising public awareness to bring about a change in consumer behaviour.
