AISI Published Annual Statistical Report for Steel Industry in 2019
The report provides selected statistical data on the Canadian, Mexican and world steel industries.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced publication of its Annual Statistical Report (ASR) for 2019. The report provides comprehensive analysis of North American steel industry data, with special focus on U.S. industry.
The report provides selected statistical data on the Canadian, Mexican and world steel industries. It features extensive charts and graphs for steel data over a period of 10 years, including detailed imports and exports data.

The U.S. domestic steel mill shipments totalled 96.1 million net tons (NT) in 2019, slightly higher by 0.9% from the previous year. The raw steel production recorded marginal increase by 1.3% from the previous year to total 96.7 million tonnes in 2019. The steel imports moderated for the second consecutive year. The total steel imports witnessed 17% year-on-year decline, whereas the finished steel imports were down by 18%. The leading end-use markets for U.S. steel products were construction and automotive industries.
Kevin Dempsey, interim president and CEO, AISI noted that the AISI Annual Statistical Report serves as a critical source of industry data. It remains the industry standard for reporting on the steel market in the U.S., he added.
