Census Bureau Suggests Modest Surge in U.S. Nickel Scrap Exports
As per data, the primary market of U.S. nickel scrap export was Canada.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In accordance with the recent trade statistics published by the U.S. Census Bureau, the nickel scrap export by the country witnessed modest surge during Jan-Mar ‘20. The exports of nickel waste and scrap totalled $30.4 million through the first three months of the year. The exports increased by 2.44% year-on-year, compared to exports of $29.67 million in Jan-Mar ’19.
As per data, the primary market of U.S. nickel scrap export was Canada. The exports to that country were valued at $15.55 million, accounting for approximately 51% of total U.S. shipments. The second largest importer was the UK, whose imports from the U.S. totalled $3.71 million. In third place was Japan with imports of $3.06 million. The other key export destinations of nickel scrap from the U.S. were Australia ($2.84 million) and Germany ($1.40 million).

Meantime, the imports of nickel waste and scrap by the U.S. witnessed modest increase by 7.50% year-on-year. The imports during the first three months of the current year totalled $70.79 million. This compares with the imports of $65.86 million in Jan-Mar ‘19. The top five sources of import were the UK ($20.74 million), Canada ($8.71 million), Mexico ($7.29 million), Russia ($6.12 million) and Germany ($5.89 million).
