Best Buy Suspends E-Scrap Collection and Recycling Services

With effective from March 23, 2020, the company has stopped delivering large products such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers and TVs into home.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading retailer Best Buy announced temporary halt to e-scrap collection and recycling services at its retail stores, in the wake of concerns over COVID-19 outbreak.

Effective March 22nd, the company has started offering contactless curbside services at all location across the country. The products purchased by the customers will be delivered to car curside, The new rule will be applicable for returns and exchanges as well. Only employees will be allowed inside the store. Further, the company has temporarily suspended its product trade-in and recycling services.

With effective from March 23, 2020, the company has stopped delivering large products such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers and TVs into home. Instead, they will be delivered only at front doorstep. Furthermore, Best Buy has suspended currently scheduled installations, haul-aways and repairs of large appliances.

Corie Bary, CEO, Best Buy noted that the announced changes are primarily intended to protect its customers, employees and their families. At the same time, they are designed to help the company serve its customers in the best possible manner.

Incidentally, Best Buy has collected approximately 2 million pounds of electronic devices for recycling since the launch of the program across its outlets in 2009.
