World's Topmost Steel Producing Countries in February 2020

The global crude steel production totalled 143.296 million tonnes (Mt) in February this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The latest monthly production statistics published by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) indicate 2.8% surge in crude steel production in February this year, when compared with the year before.

The global crude steel production totalled 143.296 million tonnes (Mt) in February this year. This compares with production of 139.414 Mt in the same month a year before.

China-the world’s largest producer of crude steel, recorded an output of 74.773 Mt, accounting for approximately 73.5% of Asian production and 52% of global production. Also, India and Japan emerged as the world’s second and third largest steel producers respectively.

The cumulative crude steel production by world countries during the initial two-month period of the year was 293.984 Mt, as compared with 291.025 Mt in Jan-Feb ’19.
