U.S. Nickel Scrap Exports Posted Substantial Decline
Meantime, the U.S. imports of nickel scrap recorded a year-on-year jump by 2.95% in the previous year.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. exports of nickel waste and scrap registered substantial decline during the entire year 2019. The yearly trade data published by the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that the exports declined by over 14% during the year, when compared with the prior year. The 2019 exports were valued at $134.63 million as compared with $156.84 million a year before.

In 2019, the top trade partner was Canada. The nickel scrap exports from the U.S. to Canada totalled $75.98 million. The country accounted for nearly 56% of all U.S. shipments. The exports to that country witnessed huge decline by almost 37% over the previous year. The second largest destination of exports was Japan, whose imports from the U.S. totalled $18.31 million. In third place was the UK with imports of $12.62 million. The other key export destinations were Australia ($7.19 million) and Germany ($4.78 million).
Meantime, the U.S. imports of nickel scrap recorded a year-on-year jump by 2.95% in the previous year. The imports totalled $327.42 million. The top five sources of import were the UK ($85.45 million), Russia ($47.08 million), Canada ($39.05 million), Mexico ($29.29 million) and Japan ($26.16 million).
