Alcoa's Western Australian Facilities Awarded ASI Certification
The portfolio comprises of bauxite mines and alumina refineries in the region.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-headquartered Alcoa Corporation announced that its Western Australian portfolio has been certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI).
The portfolio comprises of bauxite mines and alumina refineries in the region. The certification follows the successful completion of a comprehensive third-party audit conducted at the Huntly and Willowdale bauxite mines and the Kwinana, Pinjarra, and Wagerup alumina refineries. With this, Alcoa now has a total of nine locations spread across four different countries, which are certified to ASI’s Performance Standard.

Michelle O’Neill, Alcoa’s Executive Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer noted that the certification testifies the company’s strong commitment to responsible and sustainable production and its resolve to deliver long-term value for its shareholders. The commitment to advance sustainably has been a strategic priority for the company all through these years, he added.
Meantime, Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI congratulated Alcoa on its latest certifications for their Western Australian operations.
Alcoa had recently reported net loss of $1.125 billion or $6.07 per share for the full year 2019.
