DS Smith Declares Opening of New Modern Lebanon Box Plant

The Lebanon plant is expected to create 170 new jobs in the region.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith plc.- the leading British-based international packaging company announced the opening of a new industry-leading box manufacturing plant in Lebanon, Indiana.

The facility features state-of-the-art technology to ensure full automated operations. The new facility will have capacity to produce over 17 million square feet of lightweight recyclable packaging per day. The plant features an underground scrap conveyor system, aimed at drastically reducing dust and noise, upon comparison with conventional box plants. The Lebanon plant is expected to create 170 new jobs in the region.

The strategic location of the plant ensures future customer growth, by extending services to large number of customers and brands with distribution centres in nearby key markets. The facility will be certified by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), which in turn will guarantee customer product integrity during storage and distribution.

Miles Roberts, Group CEO of DS Smith noted that the new Indiana facility is unique to the U.S. market. The company’s innovative packaging design and its focus on use of sustainable materials will help to support the customers’ rising needs in this changing world, thereby providing immediate value to the supply chain, he said.
