Sappi Somerset Mill Receives Top Safety Certification
The certification guarantees that packaging solutions from the facility guarantee safety of food at all steps of the supply chain.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Sappi Somerset mill announced that it has received ISO 22000 Food Safety management Standard certification in recognition of its safety standards at the facility. The certification applies to all products manufactured at the Skowhegan mill facility. It must be noted that the mill is already certified to standards of safety and environmental quality.
Commenting on the achievement, Heather Pelletier, director of packaging brands at Sappi North America stated that the certification provides its customers in the food packaging industry with the assurance that its products meet the strict industry standards for safety. This is an important step forward in its journey. The certification puts Sappi ahead of its competitors, Pelletier added.

Earlier in 2018, Sappi North America had rebuilt its Paper Machine 1, so as to boost its capability to produce heavier paper used to make boxes. This, in turn, had lifted the mill’s production capacity to approximately 1 million tons per annum. Currently, the facility employs around 725 people.
The certification guarantees that packaging solutions from the facility guarantee safety of food at all steps of the supply chain.
