Sunbelt Forest Ventures Cuts Ribbon on New $30M Selma Sawmill

The new facility will manufacture various components for wood pallets from Southern yellow pine.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Sunbelt Forest Ventures sawmill located at South Dallas Industrial Park was held Monday. Several officials including Selma Mayor Darrio Melton participated in the event. The construction of the facility had commenced in November last year.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by tours of the facility and a brief presentation by Wayne Vardaman, Director, Selma – Dallas County Economic Development Authority (EDA).

According to the company, the state-of-the-art sawmill to produce pallet timber was built at an investment of $30 million. As per estimates, the mill is capable to produce nearly 100 million board feet worth of pallet components every year. The plant has already employed 25 people. The company plans to double the number of workers with the launch of a second shift in the second year of operations.

The new facility will manufacture various components for wood pallets from Southern yellow pine. PalletOne, with a pellet manufacturing facility in Selma, will serve as the primary customer of the sawmill.
