SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tolko Industries announced its decision to take two weeks’ downtime at all of its B.C. operations during the upcoming holiday season. The downtime will extend from 21st December, 2019 to 6th January, 2020. Accordingly, the last day of production would be 20th December. Also, the company’s Vernon office will remain closed during the week of December 23-27.
Troy Connolly, Vice President-Solid Wood attributed the downtime to low prices and high log costs in the region. The staffing levels at all B.C. operations will be limited to essential services during this period. The downtime is likely to reduce lumber production by approximately 21 Mmfbm and panel production by around 10 mmsft.
