EACOM and CSN Declares Ratification of New Collective Agreement

Michel Paquin, president of the S.T.T. de scierie Val-d’Or (CSN) noted that the new contract was ratified by 72% of the members at the General Assembly.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The management of EACOM Timber Corporation and the Syndicat des travailleuses et travailleurs de scierie Val-d’Or-CSN have ratified the new five-year collective agreement. The new agreement focuses on improving the mill competitiveness. In addition, it delivers significant progress in terms of equity for all employees and operational efficiency.

Michel Sigouin, General Manager of Operations, Quebec for EACOM stated that the contract will continue to enhance the competitiveness of its units, thereby making them attractive places to work. Meantime, Michel Paquin, president of the S.T.T. de scierie Val-d’Or (CSN) noted that the new contract was ratified by 72% of the members at the General Assembly. It had to accept some compromises, considering the importance of improving the mill’s performance, he added.

Incidentally, 110 out of the 200 EACOM employees at its Val-d’Or mill and regional administrative centre are members of the Syndicat des travailleuses et travailleurs de scierie Val-d’Or-CSN.
