In addition, the Plateau sawmill in Vanderhoof and the Houston will transition to a four-day work week in September.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canfor Corporation announced further operating curtailments at its BC area mills. This is in addition to previous curtailments announced earlier this year. The additional curtailments are expected to reduce the company’s production capacity by 75 million board feet of lumber between 3rd September and end-2019.

According to company press release, the Canfor sawmills in Houston, Polar, Prince George and Fort St. John will be curtailed the week of September 3rd. In addition, the Plateau sawmill in Vanderhoof and the Houston will transition to a four-day work week in September. The production cut will be in effect until notable recovery in market and economic condition.
The press release cited ongoing low price of lumber and the high cost of fibre as the reasons for the curtailments.
