California Metal Recycler Acquires Major Scrap Yards

The acquired auto shredding yards are in the Southeastern U.S. region-one in Mobile, Alabama and the other in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Orange, California-based full-service ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycler and processor, SA Recycling LLC announced acquisition of two scrap yards from Alter Trading Corp. The acquired auto shredding yards are in the Southeastern U.S. region-one in Mobile, Alabama and the other in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The company press release by SA Recycling noted that the addition of 5,000 hp Metso shredder of Alabama shredder will help to further expand its southern footprint. The transaction would provide immense benefits from Alter’s strong consumer relationship. The company also assured orderly transition, thereby ensuring no disruption in service to its customers. Further, it noted that the company has already assumed operations of the shredder plant and feeder facility in Hattiesburg.

The sale of yards by Alter Trading Corp is considered part of its strategy to focus on its core Midwest footprint. To this effect, it has made several key acquisitions over the past several years. Meantime, its Southeast operations will now be concentrated on the recently acquired assets from Arkansas-based Tenenbaum Recycling Group (TRG). This acquisition in August 2018 had brought TRG’s 10 locations-9 in Arkansas and 1 in Reeds Spring, Missouri, into Alter’s business portfolio.
