Nucor Corp. Announces Major Rejig to Executive Leadership

According to press release issued by the company, James R. Darsey, it’s Executive Vice President of Raw Materials Division will retire early-June this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered Nucor Corporation has announced two key changes to its executive leadership. According to press release issued by the company, James R. Darsey, it’s Executive Vice President of Raw Materials Division will retire early-June this year. Also, Craig A. Feldman will be promoted to that position, after Darsey’s retirement.

Commenting on the achievements of James R. Darsey during his nearly 40 years of service with the company, John Ferriola, Nucor's Chairman, CEO and President noted that he had been an exceptional leader throughout his tenure with the company. He acknowledged the outstanding contributions made by him towards the company’s tremendous growth and culture. Ferriola recollected James’ successful leadership to steel mill, downstream products and raw materials segments. On behalf of the entire company, he thanked James for his leadership and commitment in making Nucor a better company and wished him a long and happy retirement.

Ferriola hoped that Craig’s vast years of experience will position him to take on his new responsibility, thereby ensuring a smooth transition.

Mr. Darsey joined Nucor as Design Engineer in 1979. He was later promoted to Engineering Manager. He then served as General Manager of Vulcraft-Texas and Nucor Steel-Texas. In 1996, he was elected as Vice President of Nucor. In 2010, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and has been serving in similar positions under various product segments including Bar Products, Merchant and Rebar Products and finally Raw Materials Division.

Me. Feldman began his career as a Brokerage Representative for the David J. Joseph Company (DJJ) in 1986. At the time of Nucor’s acquisition of DJJ in 2008, Mr. Feldman was the President. He has been serving as the Vice President and General Manager of Nucor Corporation since acquisition. The press release noted that Mr. Feldman will retain his role as President of DJJ, even after his promotion to EVP.
