Plastics Recycler Declares $20 Million Expansion of Tennessee Plant

On behalf of the company, Morristown will apply for the grant, which the company will repay to the City government.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Petoskey, Michigan- headquartered blown film manufacturer and recycling specialist Petoskey Plastics Inc. has announced that it has cleared a major hurdle in the proposed $20 million expansion plans of its Morristown, Tennessee manufacturing plant. The Morristown City Council has signed an agreement with the company to apply for a grant, which will be reimbursed by Petoskey Plastics within stipulated timeframe.

According to the deal, the Council has given its nod to approach the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TDECD) for a grant. It must be noted that TDECD does not have provision to award grants directly to private companies. On behalf of the company, Morristown will apply for the grant, which the company will repay to the City government.

The Morristown facility manufactures recycles content LDPE and LLDPE plastic bags and films. It employs nearly 100 employees and has a square feet area of approximately 87,000. The proposed expansion would add additional 32,000 square feet to the existing facility and produce 50 new jobs in the region.
