Huge bales of paper and plastic recyclables burned for more than an hour at a recycling facility in Ceres
SACRAMENTO (Scrap Monster): Huge bales of paper and plastic recyclables burned for more than an hour at a recycling facility in Ceres.
Fire broke out at American Recycling early morning Tuesday around 1.30 PM Wednesday. Ceres Fire officials rushed to the recycling center on Morgan Road. According to fire officials, the recycling center had two fire hoses on reels and a water storage tank. Moreover, company employees had poured water on fire before fighters arrived. This prevented the fire from spreading further.
According to company officials, there were approximately 400 bales of recyclables in the area, out of which almost 100 got burned in the fire. It took almost an hour to put out the fire. The burned bales were later separated using forklifts so as to prevent re-ignition of fire.
Fire crews stayed at the site until 5.30 PM.
The exact cause of the fire is not known. There were no injuries reported so far.
