MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): Leading global aluminium producer, UC RUSAL announced that it was planning to build a new casting line at Krasnoyarsk aluminium smelter and has started the initial design work.
The new smelter project is the part of the company’s policy to increase the share of alloys in net aluminium output. The project will be completed in 2016. The company estimates the total investment will be about USD 45 million.
The new casting line will produce a new size range of billets which includes the size up to large diameter of 460 mm. At present, the company manufactures billet with the diameter in the range of 200mm. The new casting line helps to increase their billet production capacity. The production capacity of the line will be about 120,000 per year.
Director of RUSAL’s Aluminium Division, Mr. Evgeny Nikitin said, “Our consumers in construction, packaging and automotive industries will all benefit from the new alloys produced at KrAZ.
