MEXICO CITY(Scrap Monster): Mexico's silver, gold lead and copper output advanced in June this year while the production of coal and iron fell, as per the latest data released by the National Statistics Institute (INEGI).
According to the INEGI data, Country's mining output advanced 4.1% year-on-year in June this year, boosted by gains in silver, gold, lead and zinc.
Mexico, the world's largest producer of silver, has produced 406,987 kilograms of silver in June, advanced 29% year-on-year while its gold output rose by 14% to 8,219 kilograms.
June's lead production grew 18% to 16,180 metric tons and zinc output rose 9.3% to 42,694 tons. Production of copper surged by 0.6% to 36,895 tons, while coal output slipped 3.2% to 1.12 million tons. June's output of iron slid 27% to 518,360 tons.
In seasonally adjusted terms, June mining output rose 0.8% compared with May.
In the first six months of the year, mining production advanced 4.2% year-on-year, with gains in silver, gold, lead, copper and zinc, Inegi said. Output of iron and coal fell in the January-to-June period compared with last year.
