Fire at recycling plant in Chesapeake

RICHMOND (Scrap Monster): Emergency crews responded to a fire at the Empire South Norfolk Recycling Plant at the 4000 block of Wilcox St. just before noon Friday.

A large pile of scrap metal caught fire and the Chesapeake Fire Department was able to get the fire under control. The fire spread to an adjacent building, according to fire officials.

There are no reports of injuries

4000 Block of Wilcox St. Large pile of debris burning. Fire under control, but lots of smoke in area. Arrived on scene at 1206, no injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
